Global Adjustment
The Global Adjustment is a charge collected on behalf of the Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) to cover the costs of ensuring adequate electricity generation capacity and supporting conservation programs in Ontario. It applies to all customers in Ontario, including businesses paying the wholesale price (OEMP) and those with contracts from licensed electricity retailers.
Electricity Charges
The Ontario Electricity Market Price (OEMP) is determined based on bids and offers that are received in the real-time market administered by the IESO. The price varies on an hourly basis depending on demand, and takes into account factors such as weather, time of day, day of week and economic conditions. All electricity customers in Ontario pay the OEMP. For medium and large customers, the OEMP is included as a distinct line item on their bill.
