How to Pay My Bill

Alectra Utilities offers many convenient options to pay your bill. Simply choose the method that suits you best.

Please ensure you allow sufficient time for the payment to reach us by the due date. This time varies according to your payment option.

Make your payments automatic

Sign up for pre-authorized automatic payments in My Alectra and your monthly payment will automatically be withdrawn from your bank account. Save time, postage costs and cheque processing fees, plus enjoy peace of mind knowing that your payment will always be made on time - even if you are busy or away.

Pay online, by telephone or in-person through your bank or financial institution

You can pay your Alectra Utilities bill directly through your online banking website, by telephone or in person. When setting up the payee for the first time, select Alectra Utilities Corporation.

Online Banking

This option is available through most banks and trust companies. It allows you to pay your bill through the internet.

Telephone Banking

This option is available through most banks and trust companies. It allows you to pay your bill by use of your touch-tone phone.

Most Chartered Banks and Financial Institutions

Payments can be made at your local bank or trust company during their normal office hours.

Pay by credit card – Alectra Utilities customers

Your Alectra Utilities bill may be paid using Visa, MasterCard or American Express through our third-party payment processor. 

Be sure to have your 10-digit Alectra Utilities account number and credit card information ready before starting the payment process. Maximum payment amount is $10,000. Once your transaction is complete, you will receive a confirmation number. 

  • Pay by credit card. 1.49% service fee will apply. Alectra Utilities does not receive any portion of the service fee. 
  • You can also pay in My Alectra, by adding a credit card to your profile. Simply log in, select your card, and enter the amount you want to pay.

NOTE: To make a credit card payment online, please use Edge or Safari. Do not use the Chrome or Firefox web browsers for credit card payments.

Pay by credit card – Guelph and Rockwood customers

Your Guelph Hydro / Alectra Utilities bill may be paid using Visa or MasterCard through Paymentus, our third-party payment processor.

  • Each transaction is subjected to a service fee of 1.75% of the total amount paid.
  • Guelph Hydro / Alectra Utilities does not receive any portion of the service fee.
  • Please allow up to two business days for processing.

Be sure to have your 18-digit Guelph Hydro / Alectra Utilities account number and credit card information ready before starting the payment process. Once your transaction is complete, you will receive a confirmation number.

Pay online or by telephone using Paymentus. 1.75% service fee will apply.

Pay by mail

If you are mailing a cheque or money order:

  • You must include the bottom portion of your Alectra Utilities bill with your payment (bill stub)
  • Send your payment at least five days before the due date 
  • Write your account number on the front of your cheque or money order; do not send cash
  • Send both your cheque and bill stub in the return envelope provided with your invoice, or mail to:

High call volumes due to Canada Post strike

Due to higher than normal call volumes, Customer Service wait times are longer than usual. For faster service, we recommend using My Alectra to get your account balance and due date.

How to sign up for ebilling:

  1. Opt in to paperless billing when you register for My Alectra. You'll need your account number, name as it appears on your bill, and the phone number associated with your account. Contact Customer Care at 1-833-ALECTRA (1-833-253-2872) if you need assistance.
  2. Already registered? Log in to My Alectra. Go to Account > Account Information, and click Enrol under Paperless Billing.

You'll receive an email notification when your next bill is ready to view securely online.

Quick Tip: Get your account balance quickly and easily:

Use our self-serve options when you call 1-833-ALECTRA. Simply press 2, then 1, and follow the prompts to enter your account number and street number. No need to wait on hold. You'll hear the amount and date of your last payment, the current bill amount, and the due date. If you made a payment today, your balance will be updated within 48-72 hours.

Follow these steps to log in to My Alectra:

  1. Recover your username: Click the "forgot username" link on the My Alectra login page and enter the email address you used to register. You'll receive an email from NoReply@AlectraUtilities.com with instructions.
  2. Reset your password: Click the "forgot password" link on the My Alectra login page and enter the username you received in Step 1. You'll receive an email with instructions to reset your password. Use your username and new password to log in.
