Alectra restores power to almost all homes and businesses following severe and damaging wind storm
Approximately 4,800 homes and businesses served by Alectra Utilities remain without power this morning following a severe and damaging wind storm Friday that saw nearly 100,000 lose their electricity service at the height of the storm.
Alectra crews working through Friday evening and early Saturday morning have been expediting their restoration efforts to get all customers back online as soon as possible. As of 8:00 a.m. 2,188 customers in the Hamilton area were without power, 777 in Mississauga, 600 in Aurora, 491 in St. Catharines 388 in Markham, 323 in Richmond Hill, 135 in Brampton, 63 in Vaughan and 33 in Barrie.
Alectra anticipates that service will be restored to all remaining homes and businesses that do not have damage to customer-owned equipment later Saturday or early Sunday morning. In the meantime, those who are still without power are encouraged to remain patient and to check on relatives and neighbours who may require assistance.
