Mississauga – Renovations to Alectra’s head office on Derry Road has resulted in the company recycling several items through the donation of cabinets, appliances and even a kitchen sink to the local Habitat for Humanity.
Alectra, through its legacy utilities, has a long-standing history of collaboration with Habitat for Humanity that has demonstrated the company’s support for environmental sustainability while providing community assistance.
Doing business in a sustainable manner in tandem with giving back to the communities it serves is important to Alectra. It’s part of the company’s ongoing commitment to deliver value to shareholders while providing customers with safe, reliable and efficient electricity service along with innovative energy solutions.
The items donated included kitchen cabinets with doors and shelving, stainless steel dishwashers, a stainless steel refrigerator, and a stainless steel sink. The estimated value of these items is over $1,770.
Alectra’s employee culture also focuses on sustainability and community involvement. Previously, Alectra employees partnered with Habitat for Humanity in assisting with two home builds in Hamilton.
“Alectra’s corporate social responsibility guidelines provide a framework of sustainability commitments to meet the needs of the present, without compromising the ability to meet the needs of future generations,” says Joseph Almeida, Director Supply Chain Operations, Alectra Utilities. “The creation of sustainable practices is something we would encourage all businesses to adopt, and together, we can protect the well-being of our communities.”
