John is the Chief Financial Officer at Alectra Inc. and is part of the organization’s Executive Committee.
John was instrumental in the creation of Alectra. In his present role, John supports the strategic advancement of Alectra and provides leadership oversight to many areas of the business including, corporate governance, enterprise financial risk management, taxation, regulatory affairs, and treasury, which includes managing rating agency, investor, and banking relationships. With almost two decades of experience in the electricity sector, John has led and supported strategic planning initiatives, mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, corporate reorganizations and structuring new business opportunities. He has also successfully managed several Cost of Service rate and other applications to the Ontario Energy Board. John has led significant performance improvement initiatives, including the implementation of an enterprise resource planning system.
His prior work experience includes several years with large public participants in the asset-backed financial services sector, where he led and supported business development, public and private structured and tax-oriented financing transactions, and other business investment and combination opportunities.
John serves as a Director on the boards of Municipal Electric Association Reciprocal Insurance Exchange (MEARIE) and the Electricity Distributors Association (EDA).
He is a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA, CA), who has completed all CICA In-Depth Tax Courses (Parts I, II, and III), and the Advanced Course in the Taxation of Corporate Reorganizations. John also has a Bachelor of Commerce and Finance degree from the St. Michael’s College (University of Toronto).
