Senior Vice President, People & Safety
Barb is the Senior Vice President, People & Safety at Alectra Utilities reporting to the President & CEO. As a member of the Executive Committee, Barb provides strategic business partnering to the CEO, Executive and Senior Leadership Team. She brings over 25+ years of corporate executive, operational and human resource experience to her current role.
Barb is responsible for all human resources’ related matters for more than 1,500 employees at Alectra and is accountable in helping to build and shape our safety culture.
Barb is an experienced, driven and dynamic senior executive leader with diverse expertise in leading functional and cross functional teams in Human Resources, Health & Safety & Environment, Organizational Effectiveness, Finance and Accounting, Regulatory, Internal Audit and Operations. She has extensive background in the LDC sector, including roles such as CFO and SVP of Human Resources. She has extensive experience in Mergers and Acquisitions and leading business transformation initiatives based on Excellence Canada’s framework, which focuses on Excellence, Innovation and Wellness.
Barb is passionate about helping non-profit organizations and formerly served as the Chair of York Region’s Children’s Aid Society and is a former Chair of the Board of Directors of Palcare Network. She is a member of the Human Resources Professional Association and serves as a mentor within the York Region Chapter. Barb spends time volunteering with Excellence Canada as part of an Advisory Committee and has participated in verifications.
Barb holds a B.A. from Wilfrid Laurier University and Masters of Business Administration from Queen’s University.
